Vultures play a crucial role in our ecosystems, and without them, the balance of nature is at risk.
Poachers have been responsible for mass poisoning via a carcass or waterhole to prevent vultures flagging a poaching site. Over 120 vultures were poisoned and left dying after one such incident in KNP.
While we may not be able to prevent all the horrors happening in the wild, we can take action to support organisations like EWT and the incredible rehabilitation efforts they lead.
As a small “grass routes” charity we are proud that we can be flexible enough to act fast. We urgently sent funds to Maholoholo Rehabilitation centre who managed to rescue more than 80 of these birds and re-release after treatment as soon as possible.
